The fine print

Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by the GrimCake editors and describes how we handle information you share with us. It is intended as a plain-English summary of our practices, not a legal document.

What we collect

We collect as little as we practically can. If you write to us via the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit. If you visit the site, our host may log standard request data (IP address, user agent, referring page) for security and analytics purposes.

How we use it

We use messages you send us to reply to you. We use aggregate visitor data to understand which pieces are being read and to keep the site healthy. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Cookies and similar technologies

Essential (always on). We store your theme choice and your cookie-consent decision in your browser's local storage so the site works and we do not ask again on every visit. These are strictly necessary and do not require consent.

Analytics (consent required). If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to measure aggregate traffic. Data is retained for 14 months and may be processed by Google in the United States. Before you accept, Consent Mode v2 keeps analytics and ad storage set to "denied" and no analytics cookies are written. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser. For California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

Third parties

When you click an affiliate link, you leave GrimCake and land on a third-party retailer's site. That retailer's own privacy policy governs what happens there.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, and you can ask us to delete it. Write to hello@grimcake.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
